I have the extreme pleasure to be part of the Nikon/Subaru Hudson Valley Adventure this week. Today I drove a brand new 2014 Subaru Forester turbo 2.0XT, which carries the new 250-hp turbocharged flat-four based on the BRZ’s naturally aspirated 2.0-liter engine. Truly a joy ride!

At one point, it was raining so hard the roads were submerged in areas. The Forester barreled right through, creating impressive waves of water and shocked looks from drivers struggling to navigate the road.

While the rain put a damper on my kayaking plans, it didn’t stop our group from boarding a ferry to Bannerman Castle.


The simulated Scottish castle, arsenal complex and residence was constructed in 1905 by Frank Bannerman. A gifted gardener, Frank’s wife Helen beautified the island with colorful flowers and shrubs — many of which still exist today!
